HerpX™ - 90mg Famciclovir Antiviral Capsules for Feline Herpesvirus (FHV-1)
HerpX™ is an oral antiviral for cats living with Feline Herpesvirus (FHV-1), the infection behind most recurring eye and upper respiratory flares. Each capsule contains 90 mg of famciclovir and is given at home under veterinary direction.
Formulated for cats, not adapted from human medicine
Famciclovir is considered systemically well tolerated in cats when dosed correctly. That distinction matters: acyclovir and valacyclovir, two human antivirals sometimes reached for by mistake, are associated with toxicity in cats. HerpX™ is intended for feline use under veterinary guidance.
Support across the main forms of FHV-1
Ocular flares, including conjunctivitis and corneal disease
Upper respiratory flares, including sneezing, nasal discharge and congestion
Recurrent flares triggered by stress
Consistent dosing, clear guidance
Fixed 90 mg capsule, one per kg of body weight, so repeat weight-based dosing stays consistent
Built around published feline dosing literature
Given under veterinary supervision
Feline Herpesvirus remains in the body for life and is not eliminated. Treatment is directed at the frequency and duration of flares rather than at clearing the virus.
تعليمات الجرعة
Give 90 mg, which is one HerpX™ capsule, for every 1 kg of body weight, every 12 hours, or as directed by your veterinarian. Administer approximately 1 hour before feeding for optimal absorption.
Indicative guide, confirm with your veterinarian:
Cat around 1 kg: 90 mg per dose, 1 capsule, every 12 hours
Cat around 2 kg: 180 mg per dose, 2 capsules, every 12 hours
Cat around 4 kg: 360 mg per dose, 4 capsules, every 12 hours
Cat around 6 kg: 540 mg per dose, 6 capsules, every 12 hours
Because the exact dose depends on your cat's weight and your veterinarian's assessment, confirm the number of capsules per dose before starting.
Do not open the capsule
Give the capsule whole. The medicine tastes bitter, so cats often refuse it when the capsule is opened or mixed into food.
Monitoring and follow up. We recommend ongoing veterinary review during treatment so your veterinarian can assess the response and decide whether to continue or adjust. Antiviral dosing should not be reduced or tapered without veterinary direction.

Will it remove the virus?
No. FHV-1 stays in the body for life. Treatment is aimed at making flares less frequent, shorter and milder.
How much do I give?
One 90 mg capsule for every 1 kg of body weight, every 12 hours, about 1 hour before feeding, or as your veterinarian directs. For example, a cat of about 4 kg receives 4 capsules per dose. Give the capsule whole, do not open it.
How long should treatment continue?
Continue past the point where signs have cleared, as your veterinarian directs. Do not reduce or taper the dose without veterinary advice.
Why not use a human antiviral?
